-- To assist the Head of Underwriting in Asia Pacific to ensure the timely risk assessment of all referred individual and group applications in accordance with the referral processes contained within the Underwriting Guidelines.
-- To underwrite this class of business within the agreed underwriting requirements as set out in the underwriting guidelines to ensure the profitability of the group/product and to assist the business development team to attract new business and retain existing profitable business.
-- To Medically underwrite applications withinexisting parameters and in accordance with underwriting guidelines
-- To assist in devising and documenting appropriate underwriting practices and to contribute to the design of new healthcare products. To monitor effectiveness and amend as necessary
-- To co-ordinate the premium and claims bordereau production process with the finance department when required
-- To keep up to date with changes in the law or the requirements of any regulatory body which may affect the conduct of the business. Recommend any changes.
-- To be familiar with the state of the market place in general and specifically our competitors
-- To monitor and report on performance and decision making of any third party service suppliers which may affect underwriting performance.
-- To ensure that any complaints or service failures are dealt with as required and in accordance with Company guidelines and with regulatory requirements
Requirements:
-- Degree or equivalent
-- Excellent command in written and oral English and Chinese. Communicable in Mandarin
-- ACII or similar professional insurance or risk management qualification preferred
-- An experienced health product underwriter including experience of writing PMI business preferably in the International market.
-- High numeracy and excellent analytical skills
-- An ability to coordinate common practices, processes and templates across an international structure
-- An ability to coordinate the review and presentation of product & rating changes to brokers/insurers
-- Strong technical underwriting competence but with an ability to apply commercial acumen to all underwriting decisions
-- Experience of leading and developing staff. Good motivational skills.
-- Understanding of the local compliance requirements
-- A working knowledge of the law as it relates to insurance
